I was just 'owt and abowt' as the saying goes, and did a Romney- Obama sign count. I went through a fairly affluent area so I expected a few Obama signs. I saw two.
A few houses were displaying signs for other, local races, Like Sheriff and other county offices, but I didn't see a single sign for the Congressional race that going on for either side. I saw about a dozen Romney signs, which was unexpected. I figured where I was at was a liberal Democrat stronghold. Based on the Democrat for Sheriff signs I saw, it most likely is. But they ain't proud of it.
I also noticed that the campaign signs aren't bunched, on either side of the aisle; almost like nobody wants the top of the ticket to contaminate those further down.
And I can't even use the excuse that its early; Election Day is 3 weeks tomorrow.
This is going to be an interesting election. I think we are starting to see some enthusiasm for Romney, as opposed to just the Anti-Obama vote. But I don't think we are seeing much Average Joe enthusiasm for Obama. He has his rabid support- Unions, Gays and the other Democratic coalition fringe groups. but I think I am seeing the Reagan Democrats becoming Romney Democrats.
They know the direction the country is heading in is wrong, and just can't bring themselves to vote for another 4 years like the last.
Right now they are leaning away form Obama, but not yet Romneyites. Green Party, or maybe Libertarian, but not yet Romney. Not so much because Romney isn't an appealing candidate, but because he is a....; a....

How can they face their freinds and neighbors, knowing they voted for a....; a.....

I still say its the Kerry thing all over again. I don't think it's that people won't vote republican but that they don't like Romney. I can say that us what is stopping me, Romney just seems like Kerry did a rich disconnected person who doesn't seem to have any actual plans.
I'm not disagreeing.
I am still not a big Romney fan; he hasn't closed the sale with me yet.
It's just that there isn't a better, viable, alternative.
I say viable, because the Libertarian Party is a much better alternative, but not a viable one at this point.
I have been saying for years that the Dems and Repubs are just two variations of the same policies, and it really doesn't matter who we elect, we're screwed.
This year is different because of the TEA Party. The key will be TEA party infulence AFTER the election and during the governence.
We will need to see, but I am hopeful. 2 years in Washingtom hasn't change Rand Paul much, has it?
We'll have to see. Rand seems to be the exception to the rule. Most tea party candidates end up towing a party line when elected. I'm not sure how much power they will have. The Rep just use them like a fun toy to put back in the box when their done with it.
Personally I'm not a fan of the tea party, sorry I know you are. I disagree with a couple of their core values and typically hate debating with some of them.

Their version if individual freedoms tend to be different than mine.
Also I don't tend to go as far as they do about limited government. I want smaller government but can't quite go as far as they do in that regard.

Those 4 you have listed, first are not a part of the offical TEA Party platform. But, they may be common beliefs of TEA Party members, and are things I believe in myself.
The difference between us and Europe is a common language. If we don't require a common language at what point does our melting pot become 30 seperate dishes? Since more of the world speaks English than any other, why not keep English as an offical language?
What is wrong with Traditional Family Values? The traditional family has not only kept civization strong for the last 10,000 years, I would argue it was the development of the 'Traditional' family unit that created civization in the first place. Well; that and Beer.
Gun Ownership IS sacred. Without a personal authority to be responsible for yourself, everything else falls apart. Gun technology will never disappear, and as long as guns exist someone will have one and use it for evil. My only defense against that evil use is having a gun myself. Legal gun ownership levels the playing field, not in some government-mandated, race to the bottom way, but on an individual to individual way. This could be, and has been, a complete post.
Illegals ARE here illegally. We have specific laws that control immigration into this country. If those laws are overly restrictive or outmoded, then fight to change them.
Personally, I break a few laws pretty consistently that I feel are complete garbage. If I get busted breaking those laws I take the punishment and pay the fine.
So as far as I am concerned if you consider the law bad, and break it, don't cry about the punishment. If you want to come here illegally, don't blame me for the punishment. Enter legally and work to change the law. Just don't expect me to roll over for it. Nobody not acitizen of the USA has a right to be here.

Guns: I don't think we should go as far as Engiand and ban them nearly everywhere but I do think some regulation is needed. It's a tough line honestly for me I understand the need for self defense but realize the more situations you introduce guns into the more likely the ate used. Ie if they are allowed in bars the more likely a bar fight escalates to a gunfight etc.
Illegals. I agree they are here illegally but my thing has always been punish the people hiring them as much as the illegal. Cut off there ability to work illegally and you cut off their reason to come here,
English: I honestly don't see why this is needed. I've never seen where there is a problem of English not bring used. If a city state or business decides to require Spanish be used that's up to them. There isn't the need to me for the fed gov to manadate English as the official language.
Traditional family: this one is the one I don't like. My personal opinion is who cares what someone decides should be there family unit. Other than child predators who does it hurt? If two gay people want to be married to get the benefits of marriage does it really hurt any other taxpayer more than a straight marriage? As far as the religious objections, let God sort it out. If he thinks its s sin let him punish them.
I could do a post on each of these 4, and probably will at some point soon. but in general I prefer bright lines/definable points:
GUNS; the more restrictions you impose the more you will need to fine-tune those restrictions for every possible situation, meaning more and more regulation. Allow guns anywhere, but allow the property owner to ban or allow them independantly.
ILLEGALS; Agreed. You and I both know it ain't gonna happen, but that would be the best case scenerio.
ENGLISH; Ever been to Canada? Have you ever seen the disconnect between Quebec and the rest of Cananda? Obvoiusly there are age-old differences between the Enflish/Canadian and the French/Quebec cultures, but I would argue that allowing say, Arizona to allow Spanish as the offical language would soon lead to a similar disconnect.
FAMILY; We are our Brother's keeper. We either make sure an individual is reaised to understand and appriciate our culture, or we spend their entire adulthood fighting with them. in the last 10,000 yars we have learned that a two-parent, male/female household produces the best new citizens.
Yes, there are exceptions, but the exceptions are few, and the examples multiple. I saw one statistic that 70% of the people in state custoday are from single parent homes.
Nothing is new under the Sun. The most dominant Culture surveies, and the lessor ones die out. Our current family Unit was developed by a conservative think tank to punish single parents or gay/lesbian parents; it came out of the harsh crucible of nature as other less stable cultures died.
